Wyberton War Memorial

Meaburn Staniland — Captain, 4th Bn Lincolnshire Regiment, Town Clerk of Boston. Killed in action near Hooge, Belgium, 29 July 1915, aged 35. His wife Frances died 6 January 1916; their memorial funded the restoration of the south-west part of the church. Brother Geoffrey Staniland also fell; both are buried in Dranouter Churchyard, VI.15.

Colin Hubert Curtis — Pilot Officer, 101 Sqn RAF Volunteer Reserve. Died 20 January 1942, aged 24. Son of Rev. Harold Eaton and Lillian Estella Curtis of Wyberton. Commemorated Runnymede Memorial, Panel 69.

Clifford Hopkinson — Sergeant (Wireless Operator/Air Gunner), 44 Sqn RAF Volunteer Reserve. Died 2 October 1943, aged 21. Son of Ernest and Grace Hopkinson of Wyberton. Commemorated Durnbach War Cemetery.

George Henry Lyon — Private, 6th Bn Lincolnshire Regiment. Died 10 March 1943, aged 37. Husband of Edith Mabel Lyon of Wyberton West. Commemorated Tabarka Ras Rajel War Cemetery.

Harold James Nix — Aircraftman 1st Class, 84 Sqn RAF Volunteer Reserve. Died 1 February 1943, aged 31. Husband of Ethel May Nix of Wyberton West. Commemorated Singapore Memorial.

William Harry Nixon — Private, 6th Bn South Staffordshire Regiment. Died 6 August 1944, aged 19. Son of John W and Rose Nixon of Boston. Commemorated Bayeux War Cemetery.

James Robert Norris (Norriss on CWGC) — Lance Corporal, 6th Bn Lincolnshire Regiment. Died 12 December 1943, aged 21. Commemorated Caserta War Cemetery.
